Pump.fun rug check
Every pump.fun token passes the same contract checks, because the template revokes mint and freeze for everyone. So RugBuster checks what actually differs: what the creator did with the tokens they bought when they created it.
The creator's buy is in the creation transaction
On pump.fun the creator can buy part of the supply in the same transaction that creates the token. That buy is public and visible from the first second. If the creator holds a big position, the question is when they sell it.
From May to August we followed 9,170 Solana launches for 30 days and read from the chain what each creator did. Among 2,785 creators who held 1% or more of supply, 89% sold all of it within the first hour, and about half within 30 seconds. Read the study.
How to check a pump.fun token in a minute
- Copy the token mint from pump.fun (it usually ends in
pump). - Paste it above or on the home page.
- Read the creator line first: how much they bought at creation and whether they already sold it, with the buy and sell transactions.
- Look at the first five seconds: how many wallets bought and how many of them are bots.
- Open the creator's history. A wallet that launched and sold many tokens before is a pattern, not a coincidence. See the serial launchers list.
- Check again before you buy, or track the token in the app to get a push when the creator sells.

Questions people ask
Can a pump.fun token be safe if mint and freeze are revoked?
Revoked mint and freeze is the default for pump.fun tokens, so it does not separate honest launches from rugs. The creator's own position and what they do with it tells you much more.
What does it mean if the creator sold out?
It means the creator already sold what they bought at launch. That exit already happened; it is a finding about the token, read from chain. RugBuster shows it as DANGER with the sell transaction.
Is RugBuster free?
Yes. Checking a token on rugbuster.io, in the Chrome extension and in the phone app is free. Developers can use the API for free for testing and personal use, or pay $0.01 per scan over x402 on Solana.
Does a GOOD verdict mean a token is safe?
No. GOOD means we found no material risk signal in the data we could read at that moment. A token can change after the check, so run it again before you buy, or track it in the app.
Does RugBuster use AI to decide?
No. The verdict comes from named rules read live from the chain. Every answer links its proof on Solscan and lists the checks it could not run.
